UPV maintenance gateways
Design and execution project of two maintenance walkways on the Vera campus (Universitat Politècnica de València).
2019
THE PROJECT. The project consists of the creation of two walkways that facilitate maintenance work on the roof of two buildings of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Previously, maintenance tasks had to be carried out with auxiliary means such as ladders or using protection systems for working at height (harnesses, anchors to lifelines, etc...). With the intervention carried out, the working conditions of the maintenance teams have been facilitated, reducing the danger of a work accident.
THE STRUCTURAL ARTIFICE. The two walkways work with their surroundings using nearby materials. One of them is carried out using supporting beams that transmit the load directly to the supporting structure. In this way, the new walkway can be created without having to build auxiliary means or structural reinforcements.
The second walkway consists of a structural exercise in which diagonal tubular profiles are used to obtain maximum rigidity with the least material. The support is carried out on Big Feet type feet to avoid drilling the roof, breaking the existing waterproofing.
