Roundabout in Xàbia
Roundabout on Strasburg Avenue in Xàbia (Alicante)

THE PROJECT. It is an efficient solution for road traffic access to the town of Xàbia (Alicante). The current roundabout does not articulate the traffic around it optimally, causing traffic jams. This problem worsens during the summer season, since it is one of the priority accesses to the famous Arenal beach in Xàbia.
The project seeks to enhance the urban landscape of the area, which is not yet completely consolidated. The roundabout and its surroundings serve as a transition element between the surrounding orchards and the urban landscape of the city. FVAI has worked on the design of both the gardens and the circulation routes.
URBAN ADEQUACY. The garden plantings have been made with native plants and with little maintenance, while the existing vegetation has been included in the design. In this way, gardens are generated with little need for water, an important aspect especially during the summer season.
In addition, a lighting staff of great aesthetic value has been designed that serves to unify the image of the area while giving an identity character to the intervention. The staffs are prepared to prevent flashes to vehicles and two variants have been designed, with a road staff or a road staff + staff for the pedestrian area.
